Puppy Foundations
Bringing a new puppy home is exciting, but quickly becomes overwhelming for many pet parents. Your puppy is irresistibly cute, but the nipping, accidents and general chaos? Not so much! With so much conflicting advice available, it's easy to feel unsure about what to do next.
The first few months are one of the most important windows in a dog's life, and the habits and experiences your puppy has during this time will shape their behavior for years to come. Puppy Foundations is designed to help you start things off on the right foot, with clear guidance, structure, and support from the very beginning.
This program is available for puppies between 2 and 6 months of age and is structured around 5 in-home sessions. Teaching your puppy in their own environment means the learning is practical, and immediately applicable to your daily routine.
What We Cover:
Socialization Guidance
Socialization is one of the most critical aspects of early puppy development. I provide clear, practical guidance on how to expose your puppy to the world in a way that builds confidence rather than anxiety.
Toilet Training
Building a consistent routine that reduces accidents in the home.
Basic Obedience
Introduction to essential cues that create structure and make communication between you and your puppy clearer and more effective.
Nipping and Biting
Puppies explore the world with their mouths, but nipping needs to be managed early. We work on practical strategies to redirect this behavior before it becomes a habit.
Preventing Future Issues
Guidance on laying the groundwork early to reduce the likelihood of common issues such as resource guarding and separation anxiety developing as your puppy gets older.
Crate Training
Helping your puppy see their crate as a safe, comfortable space, making alone time and settling much easier to manage.
Why Early Training Matters:
Puppies are constantly learning, whether we're actively teaching them or not. Starting early means you're shaping behavior before unwanted habits have a chance to set in. It also means building a foundation of trust and communication between you and your dog that will benefit you for years to come. The program also includes guidance on preventing common behavioral issues down the line, such as resource guarding and separation anxiety, before they have a chance to develop.
If you're looking for more comprehensive support, I also offer a 12-session puppy training program that covers a wider range of skills and situations in greater depth.

Who This Program Is For:
Puppy Foundations is ideal for first-time puppy owners who want a solid start, as well as experienced owners who want structured, professional guidance during those early months. If you've just brought home a new puppy in the San Jose or wider Bay Area area and aren't sure where to begin, this program gives you a clear, practical place to start.
For owners looking for more in-depth training that extends into public environments and covers a wider range of skills, the Comprehensive Puppy Program may be a better fit
